Living Libations Skin Care Products

Skin Care

I found out about Living Libations skin care products about a year ago, while researching for an healthier and Eco-friendly alternative to most conventional skin care products.

Let me tell you that I am so impress with this company.

For years I’ve research for ways to live a more sustainable lifestyle for myself, and also for the environment.

In my research I was shocked to find out about how many chemicals are in most conventional skin care products, and how bad these chemicals really are for our planet and for us.

Did you know that the average adult uses about 9 personal care products daily exposing them to 126 chemicals everyday?

Here is a List of Some of These Chemicals

Benzoyl Peroxide

DMDM Hydantoin

Polyethylene Glycol

Propylene Glycol

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate

And many more…

During my research, about a year ago, I found out about Living Libations skin care products and I have to say that I am really impress about how pure, and chemical free their products really are.

Living Libations is a company created by the wonderful Nadine Artemis.

She created a line of serums, elixirs, dental care and essentials oil products that nurture beauty, enhance the immune system, and promote healthy skin.

I am suspicious of Living Libations Seabuckthorn Tamanu All Over Lotion. Here are the ingredients from their webpage which they interestingly call “Organic Ingredients”:
Spring Water, Simmondsia chinensis (Jojoba), Calophyllum inophyllum (Tamanu), Hippophae rhamnoides (Seabuckthorn), Aloe barbadensis (Aloe Vera), Acacia senegal (Acacia), Fucus vesiculosus (Bladderwrack Seaweed), Citrus aurantium dulcis (Orange Wax), Althaea officinalis (Marshmallow Root), Ulmus rubra (Slippery Elm), Anthemis nobilis (Chamomile), Stellaria media (Chickweed), Rosa canina (Rose Hips), Lavandula angustifolia (Lavender), Vetiveria zizanioides (Vetiver), Citrus paradisi (Grapefruit), Cymbopogon martini (Palmarosa), Salvia officinalis (Sage), and Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary).
Where is the emulsifier? How are they forcing water and oil together? I do know you can force a small amount of water with a thick butter or wax when using strong mix mechanisms with high sheer but it is apt to fail, especially when being subjected to warmth. Very difficult to mail. Secondly, where is the preservative. When you mix water and oil you will get mold and bacterial growth. especially if you add (untreated) herbs like chamomile, rosehips, slippery elm, etc.
I wonder if they don’t list all the ingredients they are using on their website. Perhaps you can look for me?
Perhaps the list above only includes the “organic ingredients”? and they don’t list the inorganic ingredients under this heading. That would be misleading but legal.

Hi Brenda, interesting, I never tried their Seabuckthorn Tamanu All Over Lotion so I can’t really tell for this one. The only products I’ve tried from them so far is the Best Skin Ever Range and a few essential oils blend which doesn’t contain any water in it.

All I can say is that I really trust the purity and the transparency of their ingredients. I’ve been using their Best Skin Ever for more then a year and it made a huge improvement on my skin. Essential oils do have different regulations as products labelling then other products, and for this reason they often don’t have the organic certification logo on it. However, this is some information taken from the Living Libations website if you want to learn more.

All their essential oils are distilled from either wild crafted or organically grown plants. Their plant matter is collected from the plants natural habitat in lieu of a farm. They avoid collecting plants from rare or threatened species. Their organic oils originate from plants from the wild cultivated without synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, insecticides, or herbicides.

Most of Libation bottles and lids can easily be washed and reused to contain your own creations before they are recycled.

They are also a member of the GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) Participation in the GMP is voluntary, and Living Libations adheres to its industry recommendations and their quality control exceeds the recommendations.

They also practice legitimate labelling, and put the ingredients list right on the front of the bottle as an invitation to be read. They make each formula with care and attention.

They are also cruelty free, food grade, gluten free, GMO free, Fair Trade, Raw and Synthetic free. To learn more you can read more about their Ethics here.

I do understand your question and concern regarding the spring water ingredient in the Seabuckthorn Tamanu All Over Lotion. I’m actually gonna email the company in hopes to get more info on this 🙂
